A Tiny Revolution: As Shocking As This Sounds, I Suspect Condoleezza Rice May Not Be 100% Honest

A Tiny Revolution: As Shocking As This Sounds, I Suspect Condoleezza Rice May Not Be 100% Honest: "A former top American diplomat says the US deliberately resisted calls for a immediate ceasefire during the conflict in Lebanon in the summer of 2006.

Former ambassador to the UN John Bolton told the BBC that before any ceasefire Washington wanted Israel to eliminate Hezbollah's military capability.

Mr Bolton said an early ceasefire would have been 'dangerous and misguided'.

He said the US decided to join efforts to end the conflict only when it was clear Israel's campaign wasn't working...

Mr Bolton, a controversial and blunt-speaking figure, said he was 'damned proud of what we did' to prevent an early ceasefire."

...Someone wake me up when we start shunning psychopaths like Bolton, as opposed to giving them government positions and having news outlets seek their opinions.

Shorter Bolton: Lebanese citizens? Fuck 'em!

Lebanon was a jewel before its hostile takeover in 1975. It was referred to as a civil war, but was a hostile takeover by Syrian thugs. Syria never recognized Lebanon’s status as an independent nation. They believe it belongs to them. The war fought in the summer of 06 was a proxy war with Syria. Not that there would be much of a difference for those involved. It was certainly viewed as an opportunity to defang Hezbollah. From that aspect, it was a failure.

I'm surprised, too, that Bolton is given a forum, and lended credibility. Is he paying them for the opportunity, or something?
